April 2020 CPD Manual for Certified Gemmologists with reference to ISO/IEC 17025

Initial Registration for Certified Gemmologist on Fei Cui (C.G. Fei Cui) (Chinese: 認可翡翠鑑證師) 

The candidate, who should be the Fellow Member of GAHK, has to complete the Essential Fei Cui (翡翠) Specific Training Courses which are recognized by GAHK and has progressively accumulated total 18 CPD‐hour in the following areas in the past 24 months. The candidate is required to provide a complete description and record of the CPD activities/courses which he/she has attended in the past 24 months. 

(i) Knowledge Update A total of 9 CPD‐hour, with a minimum of 4 CPD‐hour on Fei Cui testing related activities, have to be accumulated in past 24 months. The attendance of “Essential CPD activities/events/programme” will be counted and considerably regarded in the course of registration. 

(ii) Advanced Testing Instrument Update Completion of the speci c course of advanced testing equipment training on Fei Cui testing. 

(iii) Understanding on ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory Management System Completion of the awareness seminars of ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory Management System.

2019年11月至12月香港寶石學協會向海關提供 量身定制的翡翠和鑽石基礎寶石學培訓課程。 GAHK provides a Tailor-made Basic Gemmology Training Course of Fei Cui and Diamond to the Customs and Excise Department.

A Fei Cui special session at the CIBJO congress 2019 (Bahrain) was held and presented by the Dr Shang I (Edward) Liu (Vice-Chairman of the Gemmological Association of Hong Kong) and Mr Kent Wong (Managing Director of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group and Chairman of the HK Jewellers’ & Goldsmiths’ Association) as representatives of the GAHK and the Jade industry. Comprehensive scientific studies have resulted in a new definition of jade. It has, therefore, been suggested that the term “Fei Cui” should replace “Jadeite” as a family name under the umbrella term “jade”, covering the three members: jadeite jade, omphacite jade and kosmochlor jade. “With a market size that is comfortably in excess of $8 billion per annum, ……it is fair to say that, after diamonds, Fei Cui products make up the most valuable sector in our worldwide industry. ……It needs to be properly addressed within the CIBJO system.” the CIBJO President Dr Gaetano Cavalieri stated in his opening address. CIBJO is currently considering the proposal that “Fei Cui” should be included in their Blue Books. It becomes a milestone as “Fei Cui” entering the international arena.

2016年9月「翡翠珠寶產業的檢測認証、專業化和國際化的商業實務」研討會

《香港翡翠標準測試方法》展示了一套推薦在香港地區使用的翡翠鑑定和測試的標準方法。香港寶石學 協會有限公司(The Gemmological Association of Hong Kong Limited)於2016年2月19日發佈和印製了這套標 準測試方法的英文版本。 這套標準測試方法的制定工作是由項目工作小組負責執行。在制定過程中，項目工作小組諮詢了內地和 海外有關領域的寶石學家和學術界權威的專家意見。我們在此謹向各位就標準制定工作作出貢獻的專 家，致以最誠懇的謝意。 為確保這套標準能成為香港地區翡翠行業接納的共用測試方法，項目工作小組向相關珠寶及翡翠行業協 會廣發這套標準的草案本，徵詢他們的意見，並將一些重要的行業觀點納入標準的定案版本。我們在此 真誠感謝所有同業的支持。 香港寶石學協會歡迎珠寶及翡翠業的同業繼續就這套標準測試方法提出意見，以便協會日後可以進一步 改善《香港翡翠標準測試方法》的內容、 科學性、可使用性和同業接受程度。
